What is a “Pain Free” Injection?
Dental anesthesia has come a long way over the years, but it is still necessary to deliver dental anesthetic with an injection. However, Dr. Morgan now uses the newest and most patient friendly anesthetic delivery system on the market. It is called the WAND.
What is the WAND?
The WAND is a syringe unit designed to deliver anesthetic at a computer generated rate of flow. The computer measures resistance of the anesthetic as it is administered and produces a rate of flow that is less painful and less traumatic to the patient. The Wand can be used in all areas of the mouth and even has a setting which can provide anesthesia to just one tooth. This is a great feature for shorter appointments as there is no prolonged feeling of a “fat” lip or numb tongue during or after the appt.
Can the WAND be used on children?
Yes! The WAND is excellent for use on children. Most children will not even know that they were given an injection. The best advantage to the Single Tooth Anesthesia (STA) mode for children is that it can eliminate the problem of children biting there lips or tongue.
Does it cost more to request the WAND?
No, there is no additional charge to the patient for using the WAND. This is just another benefit of services provided by Dr. Morgan and his staff.
